Artist: Mattie Weiss
From the Artist: Our tiny, vulnerable baby selves come into this world and are swaddled, fold upon fold, in white supremacy. Often the people who wrap us in this wound love us deeply. In this piece, I wanted to illustrate the intertwining of real tenderness with the nervous-system level violence of the messages.
We are white cultural workers who believe our own freedom is intertwined with the struggle against white supremacy.
